There is an undeniable magic to The Lynmouth Retreat. When we first stepped through these doors as the new owners earlier this year, we didn’t just see a building; we saw a legacy. We knew immediately that we wanted to honor the history of this space while breathing fresh, modern life into its walls.
Today, we are so excited to pull back the curtain on Phase One: The Ground Floor Transformation.
Refreshing the Heart of the House
We believe that the ground floor is the soul of any retreat—it’s where your day begins with a plan and ends with a glass of wine and a story. That’s why we chose to focus our energy here first.
Our goal was a complete “visual reset.” We’ve replaced the tired décor with a palette inspired by the very landscape that drew us to Lynton in the first place: Mountain & Clay. By bringing in earthy terracotta tones and deep forest greens, we’ve bridged the gap between our interior and the stunning Exmoor views just outside the windows.
What you’ll find downstairs now:
- A Bright, Open Welcome: A redesigned reception and lounge area that prioritizes light, comfort, and local textures.
- Tactile Finishes: From the updated flooring to the bespoke furniture, every element has been chosen to create a sense of grounded luxury.
- A Space for the Community: A refreshed layout that invites you to linger, whether you’re a guest staying with us or a local stopping by.
The Journey Has Just Begun
While the ground floor is our “finishing piece” for 2026, it is only the start of our long-term vision for The Lynmouth Retreat.
We are firm believers in doing things right rather than doing them fast. By focusing on the communal spaces this year, we’ve created a beautiful foundation for our guests to enjoy immediately. Looking ahead, we have ambitious plans to bring this same “Mountain & Clay” aesthetic to our rooms and suites in the years to come.
Each floor will be a new chapter, and each room will eventually tell its own story of North Devon elegance.
